Midgame Guide Rogue Leveling (WoW Leveling)

This is a guide to leveling as rogue. This guide encompasses subjects like leveling, specs and gear.

The class
The rogue is the master of the quick melee kill. Unlike the warrior, the rogue starts at full effiency (100% energy) and relies on burst DPS to survive. With only leather armour, you need to take down your target fast and be careful of adds.

The class is great as a farmer and one of the best damage dealers in the game in groups. In groups the DPS aspect of the rogue really shines through, as some of the higher damge moves are position dependent (backstab) and with a tank, you can really let rip.

Leveling Methods
Rogues are pretty straight forward to lvl and are the perfect grinders. Stealth, sap and distract make rogues able to sneak to most places and complete quests. Sicne rogues are very good at grinding, you can mix quests and grinding more freely, as opposed to the DPS-challenged classes.

The following is a link to the rogue FAW on the US boards, with loads of useful links.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=11381359&sid=1

Whichever you choose, I highly suggest doing nothing but instances from 58-60 to gear up and get all your key quests done. Not doing so, means missing out on a huge amount of XP.

The traditional ways are:

Grinding:
Not much to say about this. You kill mobs, they give XP, you lvl. If you don't have a comprehensive knowledge of where quests take you and which order is best, grinding is pretty fast for leveling.
It can be pretty boring, but listening to music or being on Vent/TS helps a lot. Get a rhytm going and stay in it. Take breaks when you mana up to not go completely blind :)

The following is pretty good list of where to grind which mobs. It is however from a horde perspective and you need to scroll down a bit to get to the guide :) If you read the whole bit, there are some suggestions for alternatives, which work just as well…if not better.
http://www.mpsgames.com/ms/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=31653&categoryid=20&forumid=63

And the following lists some nice alliance spots for grinding. Also are some suggestions on questing.
http://www.wow-pro.com/Knowledge_Base/op=show/kid=515.html

Questing:
If you know your way around the world, this is the fastest way to level up. This is also known as gresting to some. Decent horde guides are few and far between (there are some on this site), alliance have it a lot better.

horde - if you are horde, use Joana's guide. That will take you from 1-60 in 5 days /played. It's written from a hunter perspective, so my suggestion is staggering your progress in the guide by a lvl or two. Other than that, there are some (admittedly with holes in them) guides here in the strat section. An idea is to try and modify the following alliance guide.
http://forums.blizzhackers.com/viewtopic.php?t=309717 is the text guide (thanks Bay_Cassius
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=wow+world+of+warcraft+levels are links to all the videos (thanks sQren)

alliance - if you are alliance, you got it made! The following guide will quickly and easily take you from 30-60. Reason it's 30, is because of the quests pre that are in and around the starter areas, so just level quickly to 30 and you are set.
http://www.wow-pro.com/node/599

Talent Specs
For leveling I recommend spec'ing for swords. Sword damage rely less on positioning and more on frontal, white/normal damage. If you do 58-60 exclusively in instances, consider spec'ing daggers, since it's a big damage upgrade, but it relies on postioning and a good tank. Considering you may need to PUG instances (and tanks may suck), swords are still very much an option.

This is the spec I suggest for leveling:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0ecoxxZMhEz0Vzxb

Fill out malice and imp SnD first, then move to combat and fill that out up until swords and blade flurry, then fill out rest of Assasination.

Method of pulling: With swords, you don't really need to be stealthed or positioned, so just pull with ranged and wail on the target. If you are up against multiple hard mobs (high yellow), it pays to sap one and take the others down, then the sapped one. There isn't really any large downtime after a fight, only the need to bandage up every 5 mobs or so (if that).

OneHitWonder is a very useful add-on for grinding, since you can set it up to apply various attacks at the press of one button.
http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-121-1-onehitwonder.html

Gear
Rogues are stuck with leather their whole life, so can't take a beating for too long. Focus on AGI, and lots of it, mixed up with some STAM and STR. Personally, I go all out on AGI and STR to get targets down faster in PVE, but you need more STAM if you PVP. At around lvl 45, you can get the thrash blade from Maraudon, which should last you until 58-60.

The following is a link to a very useful site with loads of gear tables, incl. FR gear.
http://shadowpanther.net/wow.htm

Apart from that, rogue is a very fun class, that is easy to play, but hard to master. When you start raiding, consult this thread on how to maximize your DPS using daggers:
http://www.mpsgames.com/ms/index.cfm?page=topic&forumid=24&topicID=36669&categoryid=20

Enjoy :)

Disenchanting For Profit - A Guide (World of Warcraft)

I've made a ton of gold doing this - thought it was about time I shared some tips and tricks. :)

The Basic Idea

Buy cheap armour and weapons, disenchant them, and sell the resulting crystals/shards/essences/dusts for a profit. Easy!

Addons

I use three:

Auctioneer (http://www.auctioneeraddon.com)
Tracks Auction House prices, adds improved searching/sorting capabilities, suggests prices when creating your own auctions, and automates the posting of multiple auctions. This is a must-have addon for anybody using the auction house.

Enchantrix (http://www.auctioneeraddon.com) - included with Auctioneer
Comes with a database of disenchantable items, and what they disenchant to - helps you choose which items to buy. (If you want to sell enchants as well, it will help you calculate what to charge for them based on Auctioneer's prices for the reagents).

(As of this writing, the release versions of Auctioneer and friends are not wow 2.x compatible, but the Beta version at http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/dl/AuctioneerComplete/ seems to be pretty solid now).

CT_MailMod (http://www.ctmod.net) - part of the CTMod package
Automates the sending/receiving of mail - open up to 50 mails with one click. You will be dealing with a lot of mail if you start doing this seriously. :)

Preparation

* Use Auctioneer to scan the Auction House. If you haven't used it before you should run scans regularly for a week or so, so that it can build up a good database of prices. Prices vary through the week - usually higher at weekends - and to a lesser extent through the day, so it is important to scan regularly over an extended period. To speed up the scans you can configure Auctioneer to scan only in the Trade Goods category, unless you are interested in prospecting in other areas.

* Train up your enchanting. As of patch 2.x, the maximum level of items you can disenchant depends on your enchanting skill. To disenchant items up to level 60, you need skill 225. You can train up to skill 60 with disenchanting alone which is a start; consult one of the 'powerskilling' guides in this forum for details on how to skill up efficiently from there.

* Learn how disenchanting works. When you disenchant an item, it may disenchant to several types of reagent - perhaps more than one reagent of a given type, but never to more than one type. For example, a level 41 green armour piece may disenchant to 1-2 Dream Dust OR (less frequently) 1-2 Greater Nether Essence OR (even less frequently) a Large Radiant Shard.

Weapons and armour disenchant to different items depending on their level requirement:

Levels 1-10: may disenchant to Strange Dust, Lesser Magic Essence or Small Glimmering Shard
11-15: Strange Dust, Lesser Magic Essence, Greater Magic Essence, Small Glimmering Shard
16-20: Strange Dust, Lesser Astral Essence, Greater Magic Essence, Large Glimmering Shard
21-25: Soul Dust, Greater Astral Essence, Large Glimmering Shard
26-30: Soul Dust, Lesser Mystic Essence, Small Glowing Shard
31-35: Vision Dust, Greater Mystic Essence, Large Glowing Shard
36-40: Vision Dust, Lesser Nether Essence, Small Radiant Shard
41-45: Dream Dust, Greater Nether Essence, Large Radiant Shard
46-50: Dream Dust, Lesser Eternal Essence, Small Brilliant Shard
51-55: Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essence, Large Brilliant Shard
56-60: Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essence, Large Brilliant Shard
50-60: Nexus Crystal from Epics, and very rarely (<1%) from Rares

Notes:

* Dusts drop most often from armour; essences from weapons. The only exception is Astral Essence, which drops exclusively from level 16-25 armour, never from weapons.

* Dusts and essences drop in larger quantities in higher level brackets (if they appear in more than one), e.g. a level 36 item may drop 3-5 Vision Dust, while a level 35 item may yield only 1-2.

* Blue items (nearly?) always yield a shard; greens yield one 4-5% of the time.

* Some green weapons/armour are not disenchantable at all, so be careful when bidding. Prominent examples are enchanter-crafted wands and the Twilight Trappings items (Twilight Cultist's Cowl etc.).

Buying

With Auctioneer and Enchantrix installed, when you mouse-over an item in the auction house a tooltip pops up telling you what it could disenchant to, with probabilities, and an expected value based on Auctioneer's price database. Because disenchanting is somewhat random, this is only a statistical estimate, but a good guide if you are disenchanting on a large scale. The simple rule is, if the item is 'cheaper enough' than its expected disenchant value, buy it!

You can look for good buys in any way you like, but I generally do the following:

1) Pick a level bracket (say, 46-50), item type (weapon or armour) and quality (uncommon or rare) and Search.

2) Look at a match and note its disenchant value in the tooltip. The value should be the same for all items of the same quality in the search results.

3) Figure out a maximum bid price. I usually bid up to 80-85% of disenchant value, but you may want to be more conservative. Remember that when you sell an item, the auction house takes a cut of 5% of the final sale price, so bidding much above 90% is a bad idea unless you have good reason to believe the estimate is too low.

4) Sort the list by current bid

5) Work through the list bidding on everything until you hit your bid limit. Remember to check all the pages.

Tips:

* If an item has a low buyout, or a buyout very close to its current bid, you may want to buy it outright instead of bidding

* If an item has a very low bid, consider bidding higher than the default to discourage others from outbidding you - better a smaller profit than none at all.

* Supply, demand and prices change, so don't be rigid in choosing your bid limit. If a reagent looks particularly rare at the moment, consider raising your limit. If there's an oversupply of a reagent, or you have a ton of it yourself already, you don't need to be so aggressive.

* Concentrate on level brackets which provide items you need, or think you'll need. Don't bid blindly on everything, or you'll end up with a huge surplus of certain reagents and fill up all your bags.

Disenchanting

Not much to say here. Grab your winnings from the mailbox and disenchant them.

Don't be disheartened if you make a loss on an item. So you paid 2g50 for something that yielded one lousy Illusion Dust; but next time you may get two Greater Eternal Essence from the same item - instant 10g profit. It's a gamble, but if you bid sensibly, the odds are in your favour in the long run.

Selling

It's mostly the same as selling any other type of item - know your market and set your prices accordingly. However, a few tricks:

* Lower level dusts and essence (up to level 40) are mostly bought by people who are skilling up enchanting themselves, and are buying in large quantities. You can save yourself some time by selling only full stacks of these reagents. Lower level shards (glowing and below) tend to be hard to sell - learning enchanters usually go for the dusts and essences because they're cheaper.

* At higher levels, there are still people skilling up, but also non-enchanters buying ingredients for individual enchants. I usually sell singly and in stacks of 5, 10 and 20 to cover all bases.

* Check prices for different quantities individually - single items and small stacks are often more in demand than full stacks, and can be sold for proportionally more.

* Keep your bid price close to or even the same as your buyout, to avoid people bidding, winning, and undercutting you. There is no deposit on enchanting reagent auctions, so no penalty for them expiring. I have mine set at 95% of buyout, but I sometimes go a little lower if I want to undercut someone.

* Watch for disparities in the prices and supply of lesser and greater essences: lesser essences often sell for more than a third of the price of greater ones. (I guess many people don't know that you can split/combine them).

* Don't flood the market. You may have 20 stacks of Vision Dust itching to be sold, but it's very unlikely that you'll get rid of all of it in 24 hours, and oversupply drives prices down. I usually limit myself to 4 stacks of dusts, 2 of essences, and 1 of shards, sometimes more for the lower level reagents that tend to sell in large quantities if they sell at all. You can always replenish your auctions if some of them sell.

* If you find you are running low on a particular reagent, jack your prices while you restock. Far better for your auctions to expire than to run out of a reagent when there's a shortage, and see people selling it for twice its normal price.

* Adjust your prices to track the market, but don't lower them too far. Floods never last forever, and after a while you should get a feeling for a baseline price where things will always sell eventually. Enchantrix includes some built-in baseline prices, used in the tooltip, but they may not match your server's economy; you can adjust them by editing the .lua files if you like.

* Use Auctioneer's 'Post Auctions' pane rather than the default UI. If you have scanned recently (always a good idea before posting auctions) it displays a list of other auctions for the same item to help you choose a price (or buyout cheap auctions). It can also automate the posting of multiple auctions - e.g. 10 auctions of Illusion Dust@1g20.

* In recent versions of Auctioneer, manually searching for an item using the regular 'Browse' UI - and viewing every page of matches - updates Auctioneer's prices for that item, so you don't need to do a full scan if you are only posting a few different types of item.

And that's it

Money Guide For Making Money, More Ways Then One! (WoW Leveling Guide)

So you decided to enter the vast kingdom of Azeroth? You may wonder how do I level? How do I make money to afford gear and skills? How do I use the interface that they provide? Well here is a guide to follow! Just follow some of the simple strategies I’ve laid out for you and you’ll do just fine!

# Part One-Making use of your trade skills
# Part Two-Interacting with others
# Part Three- Grouping/Looting
# Part Four-Don’t waste on what you don’t need
# Part Five- Use the NPC vendors to your advantage
# Part Six- General Wrap Up

# Part One-Making use of your trade skills

You have 2 trade skills you can learn! Make use of them, If your going to want some extra cash that you have to spend on items or training I suggest you start your profession of choice!

# 1.1 Introduction to skills

* There are a couple things to do before you pick your skills.A) Make sure your skills are complementary to each other if you picking up something like blacksmithing, leatherworking, engineering, or Alchemy. If you’re going to pick up Blacksmithing I highly suggest you pick up mining so you don’t always have to be looking for materials and paying out the buttocks for one.
* B) If you aren’t really into crafting, don’t go into it! It isn’t worth wasting one of your 2 possible main skills on! Skills are meant to be useful and help you out, if you’re not going to use it pick up something easy to work with such as skinning.
* C) Make sure you go from Journeyman to Expert to Artisan as soon as you can! If you are maxed on skill (Except for once there is no more to learn) you’re wasting what could be potential levels. (Just search thottbot for skinning trainers in the major cities you can just ask a guard and look at your map and there will be a red flag for where his exact location is) Like any other profession keep up to date on your skills.

# 1.2 Skinning as a Skill

One skill of the two skills I highly suggest grabbing is skinning. People will pay a good amount for the hides that you skin off a creature. Leveling skinning is easy too!
* One of the reasons Skinning is a great skill is because you can incorporate skinning into leveling your character as you go your merry way.
I’m currently at a skill of 179 in Skinning and I loot medium hide or medium leather almost every time!
* You can sell Medium leather to another player at approximately 2silver-3silver depending on how desperate you are.
* Medium hide doesn’t really sell well to players but I sold it for 1.5 silver a piece to vendors. In a typical night in the wetlands I could loot approximately 50 medium leathers and about 15 hides. That’s anywhere between 1.15 gold and 1.75 gold.
* Skinning only requires you to buy a knife which costs 79 copper at a general vendor. That’s roughly 1 gold and 15 silver that can be spent on training! All you have to do is find a buyer! If you are having trouble finding a buyer just throw it up on the auction house in Ironforge or the one in horde place.

# 1.3 Mining as a Skill

Mining is a great skill to learn because some materials can sell for a pretty penny! Just like skinning mining requires virtually no work for the player! All you have to do is run up to a vein and mine it.
* Ore sells for anywhere from 5 copper (copper) to 5 silver (gold) but bars can sell for more depending on the item used. So even at a low level it is 100% profit unlike the crafting professions where you may need to take into account material costs
* Minerals are usually found on rocky surfaces and sometimes underwater-Just turn on your find minerals and it will highlight them with a gold dot on your mini map

# 1.4 Quick Wrap-Up on skills

I have only listed 2 of the skills because these 2 are my favorite. If you have time to find materials and new schematics for some of the other ones more power to you! But if your lazy like me I suggest sticking to these two skills!

* [Skinning-Great way to get quick cash when your in need, just grab your spell book/hammer/sword/axe and kill some critters (***You cant skin NPC’s so the Hannibal’s out there can stay way from this***)
* Mining-Another great profession that requires almost no work-Quick money if you know where to go(The Deadmines and other caves are usually a great place to mine)

So in the beginning of the game make sure you grab a skill and if you don’t like it you can always unlearn it by hitting K and then clicking on the red X(Not sure if there is a confirmation but don’t do it unless you mean it)

# Part Two-Interacting with others

So you have all those items and you have no clue what to do with them? You could put the item in trade channel( /2 then shift+click the item) or you could put it in the auction house. I recently sold Moss Agate for 1 gold in the auction house when I was only offered 20 silver when I put it up in general chat!

* I know there are some packrats out there! I’m one of them I recently looked in my bank and saw stuff I looted when I was only Level 5! Throw the stuff up on the auction house and see what happens!
* Other players are a great way to sell items. Whether you’re putting it up for trade in the auction house or you are selling it through the trade channel you’re getting more then you would get from an npc.
* When selling to another player be kind and courteous, accept all offers and if it isn’t high enough don’t be a jerk kindly say no and ask if they could go any higher. Remember your job is to sell your product, when you want to sell a car would you be a jerk to the buyer?
* When using the auction house make sure you list your items at a time of day where there is a lot of traffic! Don’t list an item at 3am and have it end at 11am! If your going to only have time to list items in the early morning make sure you do longer auctions so you get the traffic you deserve!
* Start it at a good price so it can get into a bidding war! I suggest starting it at the minimum you would get from a vendor (Usually will do that for you).
* Do a little market research before you post your item! If you see there are a lot of them maybe you should hold off a little while before you put the item up for grabs!

So lets review, Auction house is good for getting the best you can get because you have many different people with different needs and wallet sizes looking for items. You open up inventory space for items that you could possibly use for quest items/various things you may want to equip.

# Part Three- Grouping/Looting

Now you may be asking what he means by this. Well I mean your group looting! Most of the worthy group loot is in items and never in monetary loot. Make sure your group is looting fair! Turn on FFA so if people don’t want the loot you can grab it buy make sure that the looting stays fair. If you see people hogging the loot either leave the group or kick them out!

* Make sure you loot everything! Most items stack so they don’t take up too much inventory space! So much loot is usually left on a corpse and people rarely take time to loot it! Those left over loots can add up, especially if it is wool or linen. You may think it isn’t worth something but as it adds up you can make a pretty penny on the items.
* Make sure you set the guidelines for looting when the group starts. You can figure out who needs what and make sure they have a reason! If you see a warrior saying I need cloth armor you do have the right to ask why when you can wear Mail.

Quick Recap (not much on looting) Make sure the groups are fair, don’t be afraid to question someone’s antics and loot everything!
# Part Four-Don’t waste on what you don’t need

What I mean by this is don’t waste your money on stuff you aren’t sure if your going to use! If you know you don’t use that spell/skill until you start needing it don’t train it. If you see an item and you’re not sure if you’re going to use it, guess what DON’T BUY IT! Just because it looks cool/hip/what ever, don’t buy it unless it can help you I rarely find myself admiring others matching clothing!
# Part Five- Use the NPC vendors to your advantage

So you failed to sell it in the auction house and you’ve acquired all that loot I told you to grab (remember keep it fair)

* Sell it to a vendor! Vendors are the rock bottom price you should sell anything for! If you need to quickly unload your inventory Vendors are perfect for this!
* Make sure the item is repaired, You will not be able to sell a dead item to a vendor, but if the cost to repair is greater then selling price don’t bother just chuck it!

So really quick recap because selling to a vendor is pretty much self explanatory, sell what you can’t get rid of at auction house or what you don’t feel would be pointless in the auction house.

# Part Six-Fishing as an Income

Now after experiencing fishing myself I have discovered like many others it is a great source of Income! Even at level 21 I’m finding items that make it worthwhile to rest awhile and grab your pole and give it a go! At a skill of 89 on fishing I have found items that sell for 15s to a vendor! Gems that sell to players for 5s and even if I catch a fish they are usually worth 50c-1s a piece!
# One good way to get the bigger bucks is to use a lure or a better fishing rod that add to your skill level! This is the only skill I have seen you able to do this! At a skill level of one buy a Bauble to add to your poll to increase your fishing by 25. By using this Bauble you will find better stuff at a lower level and raise levels faster.
# Felling lazy? Well with the introduction of Guru’s fishing bot1 you can be lazy and slack off! I suggest not using this obviously but maybe in a more secluded place! Make sure you follow Guru’s exact instructions to get it working because it is a big help for lazy bums!
# Fell fishy using a fishing bot? Well with cosmos( http://www.cosmosui.org )They have an option under tackle box(In options) to use quick cast/fast cast. When you enable this the second you click the lure it will cast a new line while you loot the last line!
# Once again loot everything because it adds up even if they are only worth 25c a piece. Most stuff you loot you can cook into cooked fish and make more money off of it. Keep in mind you can eat this(Not sure if you can feed to a pet if you can someone PM me or post here)

# Part Seven-General Wrap Up

# Make use of your two skills wisely, make sure they complement each other. If you don’t think you’ll use it train in one of the two I mentioned earlier (Skinning and mining) they require almost no work!
# Don’t be a packrat visit the Auction House! The auction house gets the item out to a huge player base at multiple times and saves you the hassle of spamming trade channel!
# Make sure your group is using a fair loot system and everyone gets what they need and what people done need you grab!
# Make use of in game vendors for items players don’t seem to want or bonded items you’ve outgrown.
# Don’t waste money on petty objects that aren’t of use or skills that aren’t of use to you.
# Take some time out to fish, It doesn’t take a profession away from you because it is a secondary profession so even if you are leveling it slowly your still making progress and it isn’t hurting you.

****End note****this guide will be added on to when I find more good ways to make the mula. If you have constructive criticisms leave it at the end! If you have a compliment or want to say thanks just reply and give me a rating! I always love to hear from people that my guides help!

1-Keep in minds bots can get you banned and if you are not careful how you use them you can and will be banned. Take note this bot is the sole property of MPS and I am in no way shape or form involved with it! I suggest using this bot on a secluded shore.

Edit-Removed thottbot link because it was messed up

Crafting Cooking Over 225 (Leveling Guide)

Ok im posting this because i was unable to find the information anywhere on our sight, and yes I did search. If I simply missed it my appologies for the repeat information

alliance: You talk to Daryl Riknussun in Ironforge near the grif platform at the forge.

horde: Start with Zamja in Orgrimmar in the third house on the right on the near the Valley of Strength in the Drag

Both send you to Gadgetzan in Tanaris where you speak to Dirge in the Inn, he sends you out to get:

12 giant eggs, 10 zesy clam meat, and 20 alterac swiss.

Giant eggs come from about anything feathered, and over lvl 44 with some rare incidences of mobs lower than that (as in the rocs in Tanaris, and some owlbeasts in Hinterlands.

Clam meat can be looted out of Giant Clams & Battered Chests (fished in Ashenvale, Darkshore, The Barrens, Darkshore, & Westfall) or from hunting.

Alterac Swiss sells for 40 silver per stack of 5 at the cheese shop just inside StormWind gates.

You have to be at least lvl 40 to aquire the quest with over 200 in cooking.

Most of this info was grabbed from the tradeskill forums on the wow website.

Goose's Golden Egg(coin Strat)' (Leveling Guide)

This paragraph is the exact same text for all my solo and group PvE templates, so after you read this once you can just skip it for other classes. These are my templates for what I consider the best viable templates for PvE purposes ONLY. A solo template is assuming that you never plan on grouping. A group template assumes that you are in a group 100% of the time, such as end game instances. I have also been asked to provide info on what skills should be taken at which levels, this is really difficult as it would depend on exact individual play styles. However, I put a number in parenthesis before each skill, this number is the level that I would take the skill at, of course this is extremely prejudiced because it is based on my own play style. Of course if you think you have a better template please share it with us.

Druid PvE solo – I tried here to increase morph DPS as well as giving a little more in healing to make downtime almost non existent.

Jewel Crafting Level 2 (Warcraft Leveling)

Sorry for waiting so long to post this update. I don’t want to affect my own efforts. As you can see I have been collecting a lot of low level gems. My feeling is that these gems will have the highest markup after the expansion. The rule I set for myself was to not spend over 10s for malachite, tigerseye, and shadowgem. It is realistic that people after the expansion will spend 20s-50s each just to get past the low levels of jewel crafting. It’s funny because the bulk of the gems I bought for less then 3s each. In order to feed my apatite for gems I had to switch gold over to the alliance side. So now the market on my server both side has gone to ****. People are trying to charge 1g for 1 shadowgem. Same with tigerseye, but there is no way in hell anyone will spend that much at this point. As someone else pointed out gold, silver, truesilver bars will be a good thing to have for jewel crafting. I have made my own collection of these bars. But the point id like to make is that ore is 100% drop from veins. Unlike gems being a chance to drop.

Id like to share a story from the past and one from today. Long time ago I was saving gems to make a frostguard. As my gem collection grows the drop rate got worse and worse on gems from rich thorium. It got so bad to the point that I had to buy the rest of the gems I needed. As soon as I made the frost guard the rich thorium veins started to drop again like crazy. A friend of mine around the same time said she has not found a gem in like a week. The difference with her was that she sells all her gems in the auction. It’s my opinion that as long as the gem you mine is not turned into an item. It puts a hold on gems that you can potentially find. Selling gems in the auction is the worse thing you can do. Because someone may hold on to them for a long time making you finding gems imposable. As for the story from today. You can notice I have a lot of high level gems. With arcane crystals being the least amount I have. All my arcane crystals were mined by myself. When I mine rich thorium I only find arcane crystals, no other types drop for me. It must be my collection of other types of gems that stop them from dropping. Of course this is only my opinion on what I have observed.

I hope this has been of some use to some of you. Here are the links to my gem alts. I need 2 of them now.

Confession Of An AH Junkie (Leveling Guide)

This is something I've been doing myself for awhile and I'll just say: It's not for everyone and YMMV (I realize there have been a couple of other posts with this concept however I am going to attempt to explain exactly what has worked for me leaving as little guesswork as possible)

The concept and general description…
For all of this to work you do have to have a base fund, the bigger the better. Aside from that I'd HIGHLY sugguest just taking some time when you play for a couple of weeks just watch the AH prices and some trade chat so you can get a feel for which items in particular are sought after and at what prices. The basis of this strat is to basically daytrade some of the more highly sought after items. I started off somewhat small and have "graduated" to some high ticket items since I am quite comfortable with my ability to recognize which items I will be able to resell for a good profit and I know that I have the patience to hold out to do so. Personally I prefer weapons and armor but this can be applied to other high commodity items as well.

If you want to make a noticeable amount of money you will have to focus on rares and epics and ensure that there is enough of a price difference between what you are paying and how much you can sell it for taking intto account the possibility of multiple days' listing fees. I currently only deal in items that sell for at least 50g and on which I will make at least 10-15g however keep in mind that this is simply a baseline and I frequently make over 50g per transaction (the most I've ever received from a single item is 125g minus listing fee and AH fee).

If you have the patience to do so you can also increase your profits by selling through the trade channel where you won't have to deal with the AH taking their cut or having an auction expire however keep in mind that you do want to keep items moving as quickly as possible while still making your profit as having liquid funds is essential to keeping money coming in.

While I am, of course, in this to make money I also give people the best deals I can (again, liquid funds are much more useful - profit is profit and you want to keep in mind that holding out for 5g more when you're making a good 25g on the sale already may simply result in you having the item for an extra few hours during which time you may miss out on another deal because you didn't have the funds to buy…. Again, this becomes all a matter of your understanding of what you need to have on you to keep business moving.

For these high ticket items, unless the particular item moves VERY quickly on your server, you will have to undercut the competition for the most part… ideally there will be no competition (however this is where your knowledge of the items value comes into play very significantly). If there is no competition the key point to keep in mind is people's need to have things right away, but also realize that people aren't stupid…. If you list an item for 100g min bid and have a 130g BO 9 times out of 10 you won't get boughtout unless there is high high demand for the item. People aren't stupid and an extra 30% off what they "could" get it for is alot… so, as a rule of thumb either keep your MB and BO the same or keep them more reasonably close… even though someone wouldn't pay the 130g with a 100g min list it at 120g with a 130g BO… this 10g jump is less than 10% difference (which also means that if 1 person bids on it anyway the next "min bid" to put on it would be 132g so you're going to get boughtout if there's multiple interest in the item).

You're patient… your buyers, however, often aren't…. 24hour listing keep you visible for maximum exposure and also result in more buyouts… that "Very Long" tag means 8-24hours remaining and if someone wants your item then more often then not they'll pay that extra little bit of gold to have it then and there

Tuesday is patch day! Try to time your auctions well and keep in mind that you're losing out on some of your money by listing on Monday nights…. The AH timer continues to run while the servers are down so you're losing out on a good chunk of the time you paid for your auction to be listed… don't get me wrong though, if you're not going to be able to get on Tuesday when the servers are back up to relist then by all means go ahead and list Monday nights…. I find Tuesdays to be a good time for the auction house especially after a patch where people will download it and logon to check out changes (and inevitably check out what goodies are listed for them on the AH

Again, I don't think this is for everyone as it does involve a time investment on your part as well as a starting bankroll, however for those who think they might like trying their hand at the market I wish you the best of luck and I hope this information is of some use to you. I know to some of you this seems like "obvious" information but believe me, I find myself helping my guild more with auctioning than with leveling because to them it's just a big mystery…
